Every single 'Thought' counts

Last Saturday ... we met for the "My Beautiful Saturday Evening" July talk session. Lira Priyadarsani, an IIM alumnus was our lead speaker for the evening. The subject for discussion was on the most commonly used business jargons of today "Thought Leadership".

Among other points of discussions on the subject like understanding the different definitions around the phrase, what a thought leader is and, more importantly, what a thought leader is not Lira had a very interesting question for all of us - "What is a Thought and what is its origin"?.

For me "Thought Leadership" is nothing but "Thought in action" and a thought can only be in action if it is has clarity.

My attempt to understand this subject has always been more from a sense of connectivity, a relationship and awareness, leading to few fundamentally different questions on the subject about what it means to be human, at first, what we really mean by Leadership and what values and power distributions are needed to enhance both organizations and society as a whole.

Hence, the question so rightly put – what is a thought and where does it come from? What is the origin? How clear are these Thoughts? How do these thoughts rule us? so on and so forth.

My curiosity brought me to read a little more on the subject and delve a bit deeper.

Science says a thought is a pattern of changing levels of neural connectivity in the brain. Spirituality simply states that thoughts come from within ... from our own mind.

There is a single consciousness, what the scholars in this field generally refer to as the 'Universal Mind'. Our mind is part of this One Universal Mind and that this power is within all of us (as Lira rightly said, Leadership is in all of us). It is this borrowed human mind that creates all the thoughts.

We as Thought Leaders need to understand the biggest cosmic principle that our origin is from that Universal consciousness that we are all a part of. This is our first identification. Later comes our identity as human beings and much later the categorization of gender, race, nationality etc etc.

So for all the 'Leaders' of today and tomorrow, the simple thing that we need to understand is - the capability and competency in all of us is tremendous if we look inwards. When we look inwards, we would find the competency and capability is immensely higher than what it seems on the outer surface. Its like an elephant, who because of his small eyes does not actually know its size of the body and its power. Similarly, if we operate from a small mind, not realizing our actual power, we end up living small vision for ourselves, as a result restricting our own growth and capability.

As shared by Sri Sri - The problem today that we are facing is in our identification with limited characteristics.  Every individual is much more than the sum of all these limited identifications and capabilities. We are all connected to a huge source of energy. As says Sadguru in one of his talks the essential part of this is that because we are all connected to that single main source there is a very high level of intelligence and competence in every part / cell of the human body, not just in the thought process, which is completely untapped by the normal human self. And since our thoughts are a product of our mind, our thought power too is limitless.

Perhaps this is that simple fact that made our great leaders Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Albert Einstein or Edison did what they did or made President John F. Kennedy state the Decision to Go to the Moon in his May 25, 1961 Speech before a Joint Session of Congress. We all know that this declaration was out of Kennedy feeling great pressurized to have the United States beat the Soviet Union in the space race .. but look at the thought power of this great leader that NASA's overall human spaceflight efforts were guided by Kennedy's speech and finally his goal was achieved on July 20, 1969, when Apollo 11 commander Neil Armstrong stepped onto the Moon's surface.

In the context of the corporate affairs, if only, we bring this awareness within us and in the leadership around, we will be able to give a better understanding to our thoughts, a better definition to our Leadership and we will be able to create better solutions to all our questions and problems. If not, in the name of creating solutions we will always end up creating more and more problems for the human kind.

So, all you have to do is just bring yourself into vibrational harmony with the nature of that which you want to experience through the creative power of your own thoughts ... Who knows what will come out of that and we have a Thought Leader right here :)

Cheers !
